The crack tells us what's happening
A straight, fine crack at the wall-to-ceiling cornice line is almost always seasonal — the building moves with temperature and humidity, and the cornice is the join most likely to show it. A wide, deep, or jagged crack — especially one running diagonally — usually means structural movement or fastener failure.
Cosmetic cornice repairs
For hairline cracking at the cornice, we cut back, re-tape, re-set, and flush to a clean finish. Where the cornice profile has been damaged, we match the profile from our stock of standard cove and feature sections — or replace a full run to match the rest of the room.
When cracks mean replacement
Wide cracks, multiple parallel cracks, or cracks combined with sagging tell us the ceiling has lost structural integrity. We don't paper over those — we cut back to sound material and replace the affected section properly.
