Why we don't repair plasterglass
Plasterglass — also called fibrous plaster — was Perth's standard ceiling material through to the late 1970s. It's heavy, brittle, often hidden-fixed with deteriorating wire, and patches in plasterglass don't bond cleanly to surrounding board. Repair work either fails within a couple of years or leaves a visible patch line under any directional light. Replacement is the proper answer.
What we replace with
Modern CSR Gyprock — paper-faced, dimensionally stable, lighter on the framework above, and finishes flatter than plasterglass ever did. The result is a ceiling that's easier to work with, easier to repair if anything happens later, and easier to paint.
What the job looks like
Asbestos awareness
Where age, finish, and construction date suggest a potential asbestos component, we recommend testing before we touch the ceiling. We don't disturb suspect material — proper assessment is non-negotiable.
